I've set and reached a lot of goals in my life. And I've helped hundreds of thousands of people set goals in my classes and coaching.
I've noticed something that makes the biggest difference when it comes to setting and reaching goals.
Most of us know the acronym SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-bound). And a lot of us know about other powerful techniques like visualizing, writing them down multiple times, saying affirmations, right?
While these are great techniques, sometimes we could reach a goal faster, and be a lot happier!
The cool thing is, it doesn't take much to add this one technique - you just need to be mindful of doing it and be sincere about it.
Thanksgiving is a great time to remind us of this powerful technique - GRATITUDE.
You see, if you set your goals, and take a moment to reflect upon how it will feel when you reach that goal, and then feel the gratitude - this propels your brain into believing it's already true.
It also sends dopamine to your brain, that cool happy feeling when you achieve success - you know, the feeling when you accomplish a task, reach a goal, score big.
Our brains don't know the difference if we actually physically did it, or just thought about it. And when you get this feeling (the dopamine), it makes you happier and more motivated. You rise to the occasion and do the things that you need to, without feeling resistance.
Not only is it Thanksgiving and a great time for gratitude, but it's almost 2020, and a perfect time to set some audacious goals!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
PS - I believe in you. Make GRIT Happen this year! My best wishes for you to focus and finish in 2020!
