Have GRIT for Thanksgiving

Updated: Oct 4, 2019

Happy Friday!

While some of us eagerly await our Thanksgiving get-togethers, others are cringing at the unbearable thought of family interactions. While there’s undoubtedly some family members who can get under your skin, don’t let this cause you indigestion! Perhaps a little GRIT at the table will help you enjoy your family, and your meal. TRUTH – Watch your own thoughts and beliefs. Where is your intent? Focus on being happy. Be objective and own your piece; be aware of what you are bringing to the table.  INTEGRITY – Be aware of the messages you’re sending, with your words and your non-verbals too. Facial expressions, intonation and body language communicate a lot more than the actual words. Sarcasm can be fun, but are you using it at someone else’s expense? RESPECT – We don’t know what’s going on in someone else’s head, so don’t assume you do – or at least be aware that your thoughts aren't necessarily truth. We get in trouble when we act as if we know for sure! GENEROSITY - Thanksgiving is about giving thanks. Focus on what you are thankful for rather than what drives you crazy. Be generous with your compliments rather than your insults. If we appreciate what we have, rather than finding fault, we can choose to enjoy the gathering… and cut down on the indigestion!  With Generosity, Respect, Integrity and Truth we can create a more gratifying experience!

Cheers,
